Iteration #003
CASUAL MAGIC
Lately I’ve been prioritizing how it feels to live my life over how it looks to other people. Part of that has been finding casual magic through getting a camcorder from 2007 to film little moments.
Life is full of decisions, and in most cases I don’t think there’s a wrong answer. Even so, I want to spend my time intentionally. Here are some of the questions I’ve been asking myself lately:
Is this something I really want, or is it something I feel like I should want?
What scares me the most right now? What am I avoiding that I need to do?
How do my relationships support my growth? What can I do to be a friend to myself?
This is just a starting point, but I’ve enjoyed taking my time and not settling for easy answers.
Is this something I really want?
I’ve been getting up early in the morning before work to ask myself these questions. Every day is a little different, so taking stock of how I’m feeling and making intentions can change the whole mood. For whatever reason, bringing this camcorder with me makes me look for opportunities and experiences I otherwise would have seen as obstacles!
Life is hard and weird but I think the best way to find “casual magic” is to intentionally create it.

Trend Observations:
This month has been refreshing, like stretching awake from a long nap. We’re seeing renewed optimism about new materials and forms.
Corduroy is having something of a moment in the high-end furniture space, acting as a more practical alternative to velvet. Adjustable pendant lighting is also growing in popularity, the ability to use the same light both as a statement piece and for task-oriented activities. Both of these trends point to a desire for personality and functionality in the lived environment.
If you slow down, don’t rush things or force them to be what you want them to be, everything is figureoutable.
I started this newsletter as a curated resource for those ideas I run across that are just too good not to share.
